Esri Certified ArcGIS Desktop Associate – ArcGIS Certified Desktop Associates have at least two years broad experience using ArcGIS. They are capable of making routine decisions and accomplishing tasks in ArcGIS for Desktop. They understand and can apply basic GIS and ArcGIS concepts and processes, including ArcGIS software management, geoprocessing, coordinate systems, and managing, analyzing, editing, and visualizing data.

Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) –

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Title: Geographic Data Manager

Managed the processing and verification of spatial data for the Demographic & Health Surveys Program, including maintaining GIS data sets and writing technical documents to standardize work flows and practices. Evaluated and analyzed the accuracy of incoming data sets, identified issues and recommended solutions, and assigned and prioritized GIS related tasks among the GIS Team. Produced cartographic products and prepared geographic data sets, ranging from 300-2,000 survey clusters (9,000 – 60,000 households), for analysis and for use in web mapping applications, presentations, and publications. Used Excel and software as a service (SAS) programs to manage and coordinate geographic projects, track the progress of tasks, and achieve objectives. Provided GIS and information management training to international partner agencies in low income countries in East Africa.

National Security Education Program (NSEP) – Myanmar & Thailand

Designed and conducted a qualitative field research project in Myanmar and Thailand on the effects of US economic sanctions under the 2003 Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act. Interviewed US and foreign ambassadors, policy-makers, business owners, former political prisoners, civil society agencies, UN staff, scholars, democracy activists, and factory workers. Gained international exposure, cultural knowledge, language skills, and field research experience.
